Features

  • Input–>Output: Overvoltage Protection (Surge Stopper) (in case of BEC breakthrough)
    • reversable for BEC Guard: upto 100V input voltage
    • non-reversable for BEC Guard (fuse trace on PCB burned): >>100V input voltage
  • Input–>Output: Reverse Polarity Protection: -40V
  • Output–>Input: Reverse Current Stopper (ideal diode)
  • Output–>Input: Overcurrent Protection: max. 50A
  • Input–>Output: Undervoltage Shutdown: <3V
  • Output: Voltage Clamping: 10V  .. (allows 250ms of ride-through w/o shutdown *))
  • Output: Voltage “Ironing”: Cures effects by generative voltages (servos) in a certain degree
  • Output / Output–>Input (–>design flaw of BEC in ESC “KOSMIK”, “JIVEpro”): Voltage Lockout
    • no passthrough before 5V of input voltage have been achieved
    • then: delay of 10ms (Both functions help the mentioned BEC to start load-free.)
    • Fast but “slow” enough (2ms) voltage rampup: Avoids “current-shock” effects.
*)  Clamps: Never rising above 10 volts. Most R/C electronics do not die below 20..25V. The BEC is a voltage regulator. It may have insufficient ripple rejection. The more restrictive we delimit (step in), the higher the chance that a control loop with unfavorable parameters could feel disturbed. We must leave the BEC a “window”.

Tests
Input voltage pulse 0–>100V: Effect on load-free(!) output
Input voltage pulse 0–>1500V (high-energetic: 4+ Joule from a Tesla coil): Effect on load-free(!) output and high-impedance(!) throttle line in passing through BEC Guard (on purpose!)
