Hobbywing Platinum V4

(released) Aug 3/7, 2016

This implementation is a joint initiative with the development department of Hobbywing. Object is a data protocol in the v4 ESC’s and interpreting the data by JLog. For various reasons, it turned out in this case as tedious.. Anyway, it’s done.

There is no reason to speak of “Beta” anymore:
– The voltage problem (showed 25V at max) has been fixed.
– Users experience shows that the current values are in the usable frame. What does not fit, it does fit by use of JLog’s “ImotShunt” (JLC). As usual, the measurements in the ESC are only “sufficiently precise”. There are also individual variations.
– The most recent change to the protocol (ESC sends even in idle mode (no commutation) data) required anti-hazard measures. But now also with this ESC JLog’s LogStop works.

So here the deployment of JLog firmwares, – for all telemetry systems:

The corresponding JLog firmwares are now, as usual, in the downloaders:
JLog2.6 …… JLog2.5 …… JLog2.0

The implementation of the current sensor HiTec C200, available as an option with HWv3, unfortunately can no longer fit into all HWv4 firmwares of JLog2.x, – was therefore removed from the HWv4 firmwares. S32 (JLog3) will support the C200 as an option – only interesting for users of v4 60A.

Ab Version 7.0.4.1 unterstützt der JLog Konfigurator JLC den HWv4.
Starting with version 7.0.4.1 the JLog configurator JLC supports HWv4.

Log Viewing with LogView v2: In addition to the FET temperature the HWv4 ESC provides the temperature of the low ESR caps at the power input. So channel 1 got another item, #32. Therefore enclosed 4 more device files “JLog HWv4″ for LV. If you do not want to use .ini, – LV learns the device by opening (OPEN, not importing!) of the corresponding exports .lov. (Although the files have “JLog 26″ in the name they are or JLog2.5 and 2 as well.)

1 Channel (w/o CVS):  JLog26HBWv4.ini  JLog26HBWv4.lov
3 Channels (with CVS):  JLog26HBWv4CVS.ini  JLog26HBWv4CVS.lov
1 Channel (w/o CVS):  JLog26HBWv4-Fahrenheit-mph.ini  JLog26HBWv4-Fahrenheit-mph.lov
3 Channels (with CVS):  JLog26HBWv4CVS-Fahrenheit-mph.ini  JLog26HBWv4CVS-Fahrenheit-mph.lov

Connecting identical to HWv3: servo patch cable, – swap at one end yellow and red wire because the “JIVE” port of JLog is atypical pin-assigned for the old JIVE/HeliJIVE.
